Right I've had enough; I'm starting a petition that I'm going to take to Mr Cameron at number 10. It will call for the end of Tesco, and immediate closure of all stores and their return to the communities in which they exist. Would anybody here be interested in signing it?

Re: Customer Complaint
Gallions Reach Store
East London
15/01/11

Dear Sir / Madam

I am writing following the clear failings of the senior duty staff with specific reference to the time between 17.30 and 19.30 hours on 15/01/11 and staff members Jo and Fatou (Duty Managers at this time).

During this time period there were under 50% of checkouts with cashier staff active and queues were developing across the whole sales floor area and in 5 aisles up to 50% along the length.

Customers were sharing dissatisfaction with staff but no urgency or response appeared to be taking place from key managerial staff. I informed a customer that I was attempting to seek a Duty member of staff and his response was ‘good luck I have been waiting 20minutes!’ I managed to seek out Jo who was walking towards the fish area and stopped her to ask for the manager. Her response was”I am a manger” So I asked why here were few staff on the checkouts and such huge excessive queues. Jo responded, “well we have had to make cuts and we have people off sick, you know that’s just how it is”.

To whom it concerns,

First of all I think you should understand that the whole thing is concerned with a customer’s dignity and means a lot to me.

It started with the automated payment machine in Tesco. I went there to buy orange juice just before it closed last night and when I arrived home I found I should have 5 more pound in my wallet. I couldn’t believe I didn’t take all my change from the payment machine because if I have done that the machine should have reminded me in some way. The next day I woke up to rush into Tesco and found the 5 pound note still lying in that machine. Due to the fact that Tesco has different kinds of payment machines in different shops, I just took the coin without noticing that there’s a five pound note coming from below. When I was about to take my money back, a worker saw me and took the money from my hand quickly. I’m not angry at her at all because it’s a very right and responsible thing to do. If I was that worker I would have thought she had taken other people’s money too.

What really makes me angry is that the manager refused to listen to my explanations, refused to see my receipt, and didn't bother herself to check the CCTV which could prove everything I say. Instead of so many things she could do for a customer, the manager just called the guard who pushed me out violently and called me a thief. I don't know if that's just because I'm a Chinese! The manager probably was very pround of herself for dealing with problems so quickly and efficiently.

I was standing outside the door for a whole minute and still couldn’t believe that I was called a THIEF. All my life I’m trying my best to be an honest person and that's part of the reason why I choose to study in Britain, which, in my opinion, is a very honest country. The word ‘THIEF’ really hurt me because it’s a VERY VERY serious word to any honest person. I’m not writing the email for the 5 pound note; I’m writing for my personality and dignity. Please make sure the next time your workers call a customer 'THIEF' so causually, they at least bother to check and have the proof if she or he is really a thief!!!!!!!!!!

What’s more important, I’m writing this letter for the sake of all customers of Tesco. Since the only master of my 5 pound note was called a thief and pushed out of the shop by your worker, my money seems to have left there forever. What I really want to question is what has really happened to the money like my 5 pound note! Do the workers of Tesco really endeavour to return the money to the custumers? You don't even care to check if the custumers have left anything there, do you? Otherwise, my money couldn't still lie there till the next day.

Tesco, you called me a thief bacause you thought I took other people’s money; if you just take the money into your own pocket without caring to give them back to the customers, WHAT SHOULD YOU CALL YOURSELF?

Best wishes,

An Honest Customer of Tesco

P.S. If you Tesco doubt anything I say, you can just check the CCTV of the Tesco Metro in the citycenter of Liverpool in 15th and 16th January 2011.

To the honest customer of Tesco .... I would like to say to you, no matter how good you are or how honest you are and I honestly believe you with what's happen - the Tesco staff should have checked or vetted your word with the security camera's (if they have them instore) and probably realised you were telling the truth. There are far too many mistakes and errors with Tesco staff and I should know and the good and honest (customers or not) are the ones who suffer other people's mistakes and errors and even lying is rife amongst Tesco's staff.I do hope you retrieve the lost £5.Good luck.

Dear Anonymous above, I really appreciate your words. Actually I always believe that what’s important is that we ouselves know that we are honest and no matter how difficult we'll stick to our honesty. My tone was too hush in the letter; I was too angry and desperate at that time, haha~ After thinking thoroughly how things happened, I realized that the following misunderstanding was caused by my own improper behaviour in the first place, so I really like to write it again in a more just attitude. I hope everything goes well with you and no matter what happens in the future, just believe in yourself.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please understand that I’m not writing this letter for complaining, but for my personality and dignity. If you could spare a little time for my story, it’ll mean a great deal to me.
It started with the automated payment machine in Tesco Metro in Liverpool City Center. I went there to buy orange juice just before the shop closed on the evening of 15th January and after I arrived home I found that there was less 5 pounds in my wallet than I should have (I apologize for my careless; in the Tesco Express near my university the machine would remind me by light and sound if I don’t take all the change, so I just grabbed the coins from it without checking). Not sure if the machine worked he same way, the next day I woke up to rush into the shop and found the 5 pound note still lying in that machine. Last night I just took the coins from above without noticing that there’s a five pound note coming from below. I was so excied the money is till there that I just reached out my hand to grab it without thinking (I apologize for my own improper behaviour which caused the misunderstanding in the first place), but a worker saw me and took the money from my hand quickly. To be honest I think it’s a very right and responsible thing for her to do. What really makes me angry is how the manager treated me. Probaboly due to my broken English and it’s time for the shop to close, she refused to listen to my explanations and see the receipt I wanted to show her, and didn't bother herself to check the security camera which could prove everything I say. Instead of so many things she could do for a customer, the manager just called the guard who pushed me out violently and called me a thief. What makes me upset is not the money, but the desperate feeling that when I tried my best to explain something very important to me, the person concerned to it refused to listen. I don't know if there's any reason that because I'm a Chinese so she took it for granded that I was lying (though I must admit that Chinses people indeed are not as honest as British people).
I was standing out of Tesco’s door for a whole minute and still couldn’t believe that I was called a THIEF today. I wouldn't say that I have never lied but all those years I’m trying my best to be honest and that's an important reason why I choose to study in Britain, which, in my opinion, is a very honest country. The word ‘THIEF’ really hurt me because it’s a VERY serious word. I’m not writing the letter for the money; it’s just that if I’m not writing to explain things clean, there’s something in my heart couldn’t go on. THIEF is not a word should be used so casually, especially in a country so honest. Please make sure the next time your workers call a customer 'THIEF', they should at least bother to check the fact if she or he is really a thief.
What’s more important, I’m writing this letter for the sake of all customers of Tesco. Since the only master of my 5 pound note was pushed out of the shop by your worker, the money seems to stay there forever. What I really want to question is what has happened to the money like my 5 pound note? Do your workers really endeavour to return money and other things the custumers left there? I don’t think they even care to check if the custumers have left anything, otherwise, my money couldn't possibly still lie there till the next day.
Please forgive me for my rudeness, but your workers called me a thief bacause they thought I took other people’s money and if Tesco just take the money customers left into your own pocket, what would you call yourself?
I give myself a chance for explaination by writing to you and I hope you can also give yourself a chance to prove that you are not a thief either. Anyway, I always enjoyed shopping in Tesco before.

Best wishes,
An Honest Customer of Tesco

P.S. If you doubt anything I say, just check the security camera. I really hope you can install the same machines in all shops; it’ll be really convenient for customers.

Tesco Gainsborough. At christmas refusing to serve me because my daughter spotted the reindeer pictures on the scratch cards. She said dad look a reindeer-then the scottish woman on the counter said she would not serve me as my daughter had mentione dthe scratch cards and she was under age.
Worst customer srvice in Gainsborough.
Then at later date bulied by customer checkout staff member to go to a certain till. I explained that my partner was already being served yet still given a whole load of abuse-the woman was trying to goad me into an argument so she could get me banned from store for doing nothing. I turned my back and ignored she yet she pursued me relentlessly. Badgering me for an argument. Horrible service and if i had given her that level of abuse\ they would have banned me and called police-so Tanya you are a horrible staff member and you madam are a bullt to boot.Sack her.

How about this for a Tesco racket

Pine nuts at Tesco over £36 per kilo

at Sainsbury's £25 per kilo

They hike up prices on things that are not bought everyday.

I had a 6-8pm delivery slot last night 18 Jan 2011. 8pm came and went and no delivery. I call the helpline at 9pm as no contact from Tesco. THey are unable to give me any imformation on my dilervy status but will call me back asap. 10pm comes no phone call so I call back, ahaha they can help me now! Apparently the driver is 2 and a half hours late. Ok so that means at the latest it should arrive at 10:30pm. Erm well no, 11pm comes and still no delivery, so I decide to give up and go to bed.

I call this morning and what do I find out! My delivery has been delivered but to the wrong address at 9:30pm (somehow they didn't tell me that last night at 10pm!). Then I'm told to write a letter so that they can open an investigation. That makes me feel like they think I'm lying and I need spend more time on this ordeal!

I send an email as requested early afternoon, no answer. I decide to call this evening and now I'm being told that my shopping wasn't delivered! Apparently there was a glitch in their signing systems (between the driver and the depot). So my shopping was cancelled. They have decided to reimbursed me. How how thoughtful. I've only lost x-number of hours dealing and stressing about this, though in the mean time my cupboards are still empty.

I have however been given £20 worth on online coupons! Erm, do I really want to go online again?

I'm hopefully getting a phone call tomorrow from a manager as one wasn't able to speak to me today. Let's hope I get some kind of compensation instead of just more excuses.

DISABLED PEOPLE have - as from today - been BARRED from using TESCO HOME DELIVERY "SERVICE"!

This morning I was waiting in for a delivery and suddenly noticed that the driver was taking the shopping AWAY from my house (having not even knocked at the door!) Banging on my window (I was in my PJ's) he clearly noticed me but still went away as if to his van. He then returned (the same way) and I opened the door.

Asking him why he had taken the shopping back to the van and hadn't knocked on my door, he said that he couldnt get through the gate as his trolley was too wide. I pointed out that this was untrue as my wheelchair (which is much wider) fits through with ease.
He then turned and refused to deliver my goods without either he or me making any further comments.

A few minutes later a "manager" knocked on my door saying that she had watched me and "because the driver had been spoken to I would not be able to have any further shopping!" It turns out that other drivers had complained about the fact that they had to walk into my kitchen (which is where the door opens into) which is necessary due to my disability!

Eventually, after begging her they agreed that they should provide me with the shopping for which I had paid but I was informed that

"ALL CRIPPLES AND INVALIDS ARE NOW BARRED FROM USING TESCO STORES AND ONLINE SHOPPING - IT IS NOW A NATIONAL POLICY!"

They walked away without providing me with an explanation or the receipt to which I am legally entitled.

Dear Tesco,

If any member of the press wants to contact me regarding this for the full length version and names, then please do so via my blog.

I purchased a Dell laptop using Tesco Direct on the 30th September 2010 which yesterday, would not function. I called Dell who ran dioagnostic testing and confirmed that the hard drive/ware was faulty. I returned to my superstore today where after speaking to several members of staff, all utterly useless, I ended up calling Head Office myself. They agreed that it could be replaced like for like using the managers discretion.

The deputy manager then came over, heard this converastion and then said that I would need to have an authorisation code. I then had to call customer service again (at no stage did anyone offer to do this) and again was told that the manager could authorise this at his discretion.

The store manager finally came over (after 1 hour 30 mins) and looked at the laptop for cosmetic damage. He pulled the plastic surrounding the laptop and a small piece of plastic then popped off the laptop. He admitted doing this but then accused me of breaking the laptop. I asked for clarification (again) and he again agreed that he had done it but that the laptop now had "cosmetic damage" and he wouldn't exchange it.

I have written to Terry Learhy and don't expect a reply if this is anything to go on. I apprecaite that the CE) of a company is only concerned about share prices, but I really hope that someone will read this and act upon these actions.

Dear Mr Leahy

Last night, I had an online order of food shopping from Tesco delivered to my house. As I was unpacking the shopping in my kitchen, I noticed that there were only two chillies in the pack of chillies that I had bought. On further inspection, the plastic packet had a large hole gnawed out of it and showed visible teethmarks. I recognised the damage as the type that a mouse does except that it was on a larger scale. I could only, therefore, conclude that the packet had been gnawed open by a rat. I called Tesco Customer Service, and spoke to X, who, while sympathetic and helpful to a limited degree, appeared reluctant to believe that a rat had been into my groceries. When I said I could send photos of the gnawed merchandise he laughed and said: "There's no need to do that," then suggested - on no apparent evidence - that the delivery staff had chewed the packet open as a joke with each other. He did refund the 50p cost of the chillies.
I am extremely concerned by Tesco's lack of concern over my rat-chewed groceries. I have a week's worth of food sitting in my kitchen, food which included loose lemons, sweet potatoes and onions, that I am afraid to eat in case it has been urinated on by vermin. Moreover, I am reluctant to give this food to my child. I would request that Tesco immediately has its vans and storage facilities investigated by Rentokil. If there is further indifference over this matter than I will have no choice to report Tesco to the Environmental Health Food Safety team.

Yours sincerely

I visited the Tesco Extra Store at Addlestone today with my young baby. As a Mum struggling to carry out some essential shopping with a squirmy little one, the Mother & Baby parking spaces are an essential part of my shopping experience.

So after waiting for a Mother & Baby space, I parked and proceeded to disembark the baby into her buggy for our shop. However, when politely pointing out to the 40+year old man who parked next to us (carrying no Tesco shopping) that he'd mistakenly parked in a Mother & Baby space; I was promptly told "I'm a Tesco Employee so I can park where I like". I shall not repeat the next sentences but his car reg. was YP--OSX.

I'm a Tesco customer and I don't have this luxury, if I can't find a Mummy & Baby space then I need to find an end space as otherwise I cannot lift my baby out of the car. The extra space in the Mummy & Baby allows me to fully open the door to manoeuvre her in and out of the back car seat. More often than not I have to wait for a Mummy & Baby space to become free.

I noticed that his was not the only car without a car seat (or any other sign of baby on board..booster seat, Mother & Baby Tesco club sticker etc). May I ask why Tesco provide these spaces if they are not going to be enforced? I have seen several Mummies complaining to the store staff in both the Addlestone and Brooklands Tesco Extra stores on different occasions but have never come forward to add my voice to the complaint.

However, since I received verbal abuse for my trouble this afternoon I feel that this is now a real cause for concern.

Letter sent to Tesco Complaints:

Please find enclosed my Tesco’s Club Card; I will no longer be patronizing Tesco’s stores, after being completely humiliated by a member of staff and the store manager.
I purchased a packet of cigarettes for myself and my partner who they asked for ID having decided he looked under 18 years of age. I am actually 41 years old and to think they would consider that I would have a partner of 17 years old is ridiculous. Talk about jobs worth attitude what happened to common sense? After this they even refused to sell me my cigarettes which I find insane. The managers words were “How many times do I have to tell you, no we will not sell you cigarettes” I run a very successful business and spend $100’s of pounds each month at Tesco's store. Maybe my custom may not have a massive effect on your profits, but to quote your strap line “Every little Helps”
I will be joining the growing number of members at http://www.tesco-complaint.blogspot.com/ and will be giving my custom to a Sainsbury’s who value customer service!
Kind Regards

It kinda makes me feel better to click on their ads and cost them money, maybe eventually they will value their customers more!

I love Tesco!!!!! If you don't, then don't shop there! FFS get a life. As an independant shop owner I certainly don't agree with the attitude that the customer is always right. I think Tesco do a fantastic job - they must be doing something right else they wouldn't be so big. A lot of shops could learn a lot by looking up to Tesco. As for customers who don't like ANY shop. Don't shop there. Simple!

On Sunday 13th Febuary,
I bought some pasta for my younger sister and myself. I bought the mushroom and ham tagietelle. Wacked in the the microwave and dished up. My sister was eating the pasta and then spat somehing out and to her suprise it it was a big bone!!!!
she got put off her food as you can imagine. Finding a bone in my sister tagietelle put me off all food from tesco and furthermore im glad my sister didn't choke on it! we both stopped eating the remaining pasta left over and had to buy a take out! I took a photo of the bone and have kept all packging and will be contacting tesco. However heard such bad feedback about how tesco dont reply to your complaints wanted to post it on this blog! I do love shopping in tesco however I will only be buying things in there that are not pre-packed food as I was slightly pu off by finding this massive bone in my little sisters food. I hope something can be done about this and that it doesn't happen to anybody else.

I have just emailed Tesco not about a complaint as such but a product query I had. I wanted to know their definition of "improved recipe" I am awaiting their response.
The product in question is their 410g tin of Tesco own brand Spaghetti Bolgnese.
I noticed that they now have put in a blue circle on the front "improved recipe" However when I compared it to an "old recipe" tin I had I am at a loss to know what has "improved".
All the nutritional values shown on the front for half a can have increased considerably eg Calories up from 155 to 190, Fat up from 3.7g to 7.8g, Salt up from 1.4g to 1.8g. etc.
Also, when looking at the ingredients list the main constituents have decreased and by the look of it replaced by water (not an ingredient in the old recipe and done to keep the weight the same) eg Spaghetti content down by 7% and Tomato Puree content down by 10%!
How can they have the cheek to say improved recipe?! I wonder what other products they have done the same thing with?

Tesco Silverburn,Glasgow.

I was enjoying a lovely night out on Tuesday, which was rudely interupted by a telephone call from the local police station informing me that I had "stolen" 24 pounds worth of petrol on the 14th of February from the Tesco garage!

"oh no I did not" I exclaimed to the officer!

"oh yes you did" I was told!

This pantomine style routine continued for another few mins before I politely told the officer that I would be down before work the following day to get to the bottom of it.

Could I really have been so silly as not to pay? Surely not! However as the self doubt crept in,I mustered up the courage to walk in and proclaim my innocence!

I was 99% sure I had not committed the said drive off the police & Tesco were accusing me of, but only due to the monetary amount,£24. £24? Sorry but my mild OCD only ever allows me to use petrol in amounts of 10!!

After being sent from the petrol station to the adjoining megastore where apparently all the CCTV is monitored, I asked them to check my card for any transactions made to them on that date. Low & behold a transaction for £10 fuel on the day I apparently commited the crime!

Still not satisfied that I was infact innocent I had to wait around for almost an hour while the CCTV from that morning was checked.

What did they think I had done? Paid £10 then came back a few mins later to steal £24?

Alas I am not a thief and it seems there was a " breakdown in communication" at the petrol station!!!

A BREAKDOWN IN COMMUNICATION???

In my line of work I need to complete & pass police checks every year, fail a police check = bye bye career!

I use pay @ pump, im the person who PAYS for their fuel BEFORE it has entered my car.

Tesco customers please be aware of this story if you are ever wrongly accused of theft like I was! Chances are YOU DID NOT DO IT!

Hello,"you bunch of fools"what sort of dickhead are you, have tesco put you up to making these rancid comments about other people's posts.Instead of talking crud you should maybe open your eyes and see what this "shop" is all about. They are filth and accordingly treat their customers as filth, literately.Try asking them what they did at their "flagship" Cheshunt store 9 years ago.I hope no one bought milk, bread,or certain other food there in the week before christmas. They soon had the enviromental health eating out of their grubby hands. So,before you mouth off about other people's complaints, check facts.

She saw that there was some on offer and got the 2 tubes and brought them to the desk for purchase. She checked the receipt and noticed she was charged full price for both item. When she quiered this with the register she rang a man called "Tom" who went to check the item, "Tom" told the register that he is at the product now and it is not on offer! So my mother went down to check "Tom" was there and my mother told him it says its on offer right there but tom in a condesending tone replied while pointing that it "clearly" does not say its on offer that the item on the left is on offer and the item on the right is on offer but not the item in the middle which is what my mother picked up! So my mother pointed out that further down at the end of the alley the exact same products were there but no sign to say they were on offer! "Tom" then said they must not be on offer any more, then my mother asked why the signs were still up, "Tom" then checked the offer template and said oh it is still on until such and such date, again my mother quiered why one part of the shop advertises this product and another part doesnt and how customers are expected to make sense of it. My mother pointed clearly at where the faults in the stores merchandising were and once again "Tom" replied in his smart aleky tony "Do not point at me like that". My mother simply gestured at the products that were in question.

So my mother took the products and went to go get something else and proceeded to the check out where she waited another 20 minutes to be served. In this time this so called manager "Tom" arrived "helping" another customer about a wine bottle and saw my mother being served, my mother was chatting to the register while she made her purhcases and how anyone is supposed to understand or follow it. "Tom" proceeded to barge in while my mother is being served and waved the offer templates around saying that the reason the offer has not been put up yet is because "the price changers have not gotten around to it", on top of that he told me mother that he "followed" her up to the desk which was a down right lie cause it was clear he was trying to be helpful to the other customer about the wine bottle! As far as my mother was concerned the matter was closed. She asked who the senior manager was and she wanted to speak to him in which Tom replied that he was the manager on duty so my mother said that she will take the matter to another manager another time and took her goods and left!

This mail is NOT about the fact the product in question IS on offer! It is about the abhorrent, disrespectful and disgraceful way one of their managers could possibly carry on while talking to a customer! I myself was a Duty manager for Smyths toys for 5 years so i know how stressful retail and customers of retail can be, but on no occassion had i EVER treated a customer like the way their manager treated my mother! I will be taking this matter as far as i can go and once i calm down and am level headed again i will be going down to their Tesco branch and i will be asking for a private conversation with "Tom".

If i were to EVER treat a customer the way their manager treated my mother i would expect his resignation on my desk by the end of the day. I fired employees for less than the way your manager performed today in his duties.

Apolagies about the mixing of "your" and "their". This was the same letter of complaint i sent to their customer services email address and i obviously didnt proof read it properly before posting it here!

This happened in Their branch in Naas, Co.Kildre, Ireland!

I today have needed to complain regarding Tesco's my delivery ordered for 6-8 never arrived when I phoned I was told they had tried to deliver but I was not in. However I questioned to why no phone message was left etc. Spoke to my neighbour and she said they arrived early and had left on the dot of 6. I was seconds away coming back from picking up my 3 year old daughter if they had phoned my mobile I could have told them this.

As I have found everytime I have needed to complain regarding Tesco's I got a defensive reply back basically accusing my neighbour of lieing. Where I live we have to shop in Tesco's as they have ensured its impossible for other supermarkets to be built in fact Inverness is know as Tesco city and 3 of every 4 pounds spent is said to be spent at Tesco's.

All I wanted was an applogy from Tescos rather than them being rude.

Lucy

While I appreciate and understand the majority of the frustrations and complaints on this blog and am completely on the side of those I agree with, as a customer assistant at Tesco I have to say that some people are blaming individuals at Tesco for things that aren't their fault. I know my Tesco in particular has brought in some completely ridiculous 'policies' that we have to follow as a part of our job and yet customers react as if we as individuals are out to get them. In the 4 years I have worked for Tesco I have never had customers treat me the way they have in the past few months. The majority of people I deal with are just downright nasty, and the way they speak to myself and my colleagues is just downright abusive, humiliating and disgraceful.

I think that people need to understand that most of the time it is not the individuals fault. For example, 'Anonymous' who posted about the refusal of sale of cigarettes, Tesco operate a 'Think 25' policy, not a 'Think 18' policy. If a member of staff believes someone to be under 25 they HAVE to ask for ID and once they have asked for ID they cannot overrule this. If a manager is called they have to back that member of staff up. It may seem unfair and as I don't know how old your partner is or looks I can't say anything for sure but at the end of the day, if a member of staff is found to have served someone underage, or someone who is believed to be buying an age restricted product for someone underage then they can get prosecuted, get a criminal record and even be charged up to £3,500. While it seems stupid, it unfortunately just isn't worth our jobs.

Also, S.Muncsater, unfortunately you DO have to have a reference number to return faulty electrical goods, and no one would have offered to call for you because the helpline people refuse to talk to us about a product, they ask to talk to the customer. However, the manager should not have refused an exchange once you had a reference number as a result of cosmetic damage he has caused =/

Tesco advertsie prices and offers on their website, however, go into the store and you find that many of these offers aren't!!! As Tesco Direct is seperate to the store side of the business, offers advertised on-line, are not necessarily offered in store. Store prices depend on where store is located, who manages the store and even who owns the land the store is built on.....according to Customer Services it is anyway. To my mind this is deliberate misleading advertising. Yes there is small print but come on, most of us check a price out on-line and would presume that is what you pay in store. Still business is business and hoodwinking your customers is another.

Tesco accusing my sister of fraud because she asked for her double the difference back, they said how do you no about this policy haa, its wrote behind you on the customer service board, exact wording "you are known to use Tesco fraudulently and I recognised you from the way you answered your phone"!, hahaa absolutey shocking, well I thought getting overcharged was bad but to get accused of fraud infront of a store full of shoppers beats it, believe me. Crazy stuff btw were both now barred as a result because we asked for an apology. Complained on the phone straight away, Mabye a letter or two tomorrow, and my sister got a small refund before leaving the store, so guilty they gave her some money back nonsense eh.

I have been left destroyed by TESCO. I was bullied, harrassed, victimised, discriminated against, etc.
I was made ill through bieng badly treated at work. I was further bullied and harrassed to come back whislt still ill and on treatment with ongoing medication. I felt suicidal, helpless, emotionally and physically drained, but was always under threat if I didn't return then I would have no job.
Why, when I felt in a better frame of mind and well enough to return was I worked out of my job within 4
days. I was dismissed on my capability on ill health. I went through the appeal procedures and still wasn't getting it into their heads that I was well enough to come back part time on a temporary basis untill I regained my trust and confidence back before I could again be a full time worker. Why was I always lied to? Why did they keep ignoring me? Why did they adjourne my stage two appeal and never come back to me? Why were coments made by an SD like 'I think she's got mental problems' or 'she's a liability'.? etc... Why in my stage two appeal was there a comment made by another SD like, 'so tell me, about 80% of our asian women are a pain in the back are asian women' and agreed by an area group personel. Why have they distroyed me? My original grievance was upheld, then why do I feel that I was worked out of my job and my career destroyed? Nothing makes sence. How do these directors get away with murder? Are they exempt from making these comments?
This is a human Interest story so for more details, please reply and together with my Evidence I want this to be a public Interest story. I was unfairly dismissed and feel the lies by those in trust and higher positions failed me. I have complained and now am in the process of sending evidence to Sir terry Levy regarding how my meetings were dealt with. I am heart broken and I have been distroyed, my career has been distroyed, my intigrity, cofindence, honesty etc..had been distroyed and I feel very hurt and let down by Tesco. I feel cheated by all those involved.

Today at Tescoe Lewisham I bought bacon (Danish, 3 packs for £10).

It was disgustingly salty. So I read the packet and was appalled to find the contents were, 'Bacon 87%, Water and Salt 13%.'

13% added water is nothing short of fraud.

I won't be buying any more bacon from Tescoe

Thank you Tesco, after 20 minutes of me walking round the store filling my basket, you refused to serve me at the till. My crime? I had my two pet rats in a secure pet carrier with me. The woman behind the till asked if "I had a rabbit" and when I replied in the negative, that they were rats, she said they were not allowed in store and I would have to leave. I genuinely thought she was joking. However, I hope it was worth it because they missed out on a large sale and would have had to put ALL my shopping back.
I have taken my pets in their pet carrier into other supermarkets, and Morrisons, Waitrose, and ASDA have not minded. Every little helps, eh?

Tesco Leytonstone, 21st April 2011. Second time in the last month I
have walked out as waited an unacceptable time to pay.. Queued for
over 20 mins as idiots had weekly shop in basket only tills, no one
said anything. Three of the self service tills were broken. Customer
in front of me had an item with no bar code, no one to help so after a
few minutes of getting increasingly stressed, left. Trying to purchase
your shopping should not be this difficult or stressful. Why bother
refurbishing the store if people are unable to pay in a timely or
convenient way.

I'm sick and tired of Tesco's having offers on which are never on the shelves. Kicked up a right fuss tonight and was fed a load of bullsh*t, they must think we came down in the last shower to believe what they tell us. I used to work there on Customer Service so I know. Funny that as soon as the offer finishes the shelves are full. I'm off to complain again, I have a bee in my bonnet.

I worked for Tesco for three years. The treatment at times was diabolical. If you didn't kiss the managments and other senior staff's backsides, you were treated with total contempt. Higher members of staff discuss your private life to whoever they wish. My car was struck twice in the area desinated for staff. Nobody wanted to know, the camera weren't on them but further up the camera was on the big boss's car.
Following treatment for cancer my husband sadly past away. I took holidays and bereavement time, three days only i took extra. My youngest child was only thirteen at the time. When i returned up to the office, they spoke to me as if it had been my dog that had died. I was totally disgusted and deeply distressed by their lack of compassion. Other members of the staff were treated fairly, especially if Mummy or Daddy was a member of the senior staff. This became too much for me, my youngest daughter was grieving and it became apparent that i would have to give up my job to help her. I received no help whatsoever and now that i have left Tesco i have no regrets, i only feel anger and a feeling of being totally let down. Maybe this is going on still in other stores but at the end of the day i have never set foot in the store that i worked in for nearly a year. Tesco left i really nasty taste in my mouth and i know it is still going on in this particular store from my old workmates. It reminds me of being back at school, bullying, intimidation and the senior female staff, some just out of school, being being absolute bitches.

I am writing this for a friend who has been left totally humiliated. This is a story that has probably happened to many of us by pure accident. Yes, we all know that Tesco loses millions every year through theft, as we are apparently told. My friend, who has shopped in Tesco since they opened in Cumbernauld, had her incident on Saturday the 30th of April. After her usual shop she went up to the cafe to have a coffee. She browsed round the clothing section afterwards then came down the elevator and proceeded to buy her cigarettes. She then went outside and two security guards were standing there and asked her to accompany them to the back of the shop. She then was interrogated and asked if she had anything to declare that she had not paid for. She replied, "no", and she was totally baffled and was also very scared. They reached into her trolley and behind her bag that she had from another shop was a bottle of nail varnish. Pure horror struck her, she said, "I didn't see that. I totally apologise." They asked her if she wanted to pay for it and she replied, "Of course i do." Two pound forty nine was handed over. She then explained that she has a brain tumour, cushion syndrome, and nelsom syndrome. She manages really well getting herself out and about, despite having these chronic illnesses. She also wears an alert bracelet. They did not check any of this because at the end of the day it was a genuine mistake. After telling them this one of the guards replied, "Pull the fucking other one, everyone says that." Then they proceeded to take her picture without her knowing, telling her to turn to the side and she asked why. They told her that they needed to take a picture and then told her she was banned from the store for six months, branded a THIEF. How disgusting! The amount of money she spends every month and also her husband in petrol, who travels miles every week. What a way to treat a regular costumer who has visited the store in all these years.

I puchased a tv from Tesco i paid cash and took the tv away at the time of purchase, when i got it home it did not work so i contacted Tesco and expained the problem. I was told they would arrange for an engineer to call to repair the tv so i explained i had only purchased the tv 2 hours ago and i wanted another tv and not a repair, i was told we cant take it back and put it back into stock as it is now classed as used. I explained my money was still in their till thats how little time had passed since the purchase but they insisted i was not entitled to an exchange, after lots of argueing and numerous telephone calls to head office they eventually returned my money i then went to the pannasonic shop and purchased my tv with no problems

2 weeks ago i had an awful spate of approx 6 &1/2 HOURS 4 & 1/2 hours in police custody due to TESCO REDDITCH insisting that i be arrested for attempted theft from their store, due to a genuine mistake made by myself , my partner & 18 month old child whilst shopping at there lunchtime.

After my partner & i visiting the upstairs section first , my partner put a small quantity of clothing items on the side of the trolley & we then proceeded downstairs to do main shopping groceries filling the insides with various normal household items & other groceries, ( reason why the clothes were on side of trolley.. well you dont want to crush them with normal shopping or keep moving them everytime you put in an item ) we then proceeded to a checkout.
Now after loading said groceries onto conveyor belt , my partner noticed we needed some chips & ran to get them . as there was no-one waiting behind us in the queue.
I then informed the checkout operator that " these clothing items on the trolley also needed to be scanned" & " i cant pick them up as i had various food & chocolate residue on my hands from feeding my little one to keep him happy "( & no it wasnt items from Tesco i had been feeding him, i had my own stash for such emergencies )
I then proceeded to pack the ever increasing number of items been passed through to the end conveyor.
My partner had returned towards the end of the scanning with i will admit more than the chips she went for, but no-worries more £'s for Tesco eh..
We paid , i then went to the tobacco/lottery separate till & purchase another single item there, paid and went to leave the shop.
We were stopped & asked to see our till receipt to query payment of the clothing, sure enough mistakenly the clothing had not been scanned A total of £24.odd.
My partner & myself were both shocked & latter on realised we both thought that the other had passed on the items to be scanned, & I'd even informed the till operator of the items, so after apologising & offering full payment for a genuine mistake , we assumed that would be the end of it....
OHHHHH NO !!!
We were frog marched the full length of the large store with our 18 month old still sat in the trolley , now been pulled along by a member of security, been told we had to go into the office.
We then were given the option of either been arrested by the police or signing some kind of community order ADMITTING WE HAD STOLEN !!! & ALLOWING TESCO TO EMPLOY A NOTICE OF INTENDED CIVIL RECOVERY...
FOR COSTS INCURRED INCLUDING LOSSES , INVESTIGATION COSTS , SECURITY COSTS & ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS...
ALSO THAT IT WILL BE RECORDED ON FILE AVAILABLE IN NORMAL CREDIT RATTING / FINANCIAL SEARCHES, ALSO EMPLOYMENT DECISIONS.
I & MY PARTNER BOTH REFUSED TO ACCEPT AN ADMISSION OF THEFT FOR A GENUINE MISTAKE
I WAS THEN ARRESTED BY THE THEN PRESENT POLICE OFFICER & TAKEN TO REDDITCH POLICE STATION .
WHERE AFTER APPROX 4 & 1/2 HOURS IN POLICE CUSTODY, THEY RELEASED ME WITH NO CHARGES TO FACE

Today both my partner & i got seperate letters stating that they were a recovery agent for tesco & are telling us both that we owe a total of £178.75 EACH !!!!
A TOTAL OF WAIT FOR IT ...... £357.50 !!!!
( FOR £24.00 WORTH OF GOODS GENUINELY MISTAKENLY NOT PAID FOR... BUT WHICH I INFORMED THE CASHIER OF )
THIS TOTAL OF £357.50 IS ALLEGALLY to cover all costs etc etc
Now i need some help PLEASE with where we stand witht the law and what we can do regarding payment to these sharks...
as i have no intention of paying this..

TESCO THIS IS DISGUSTING !!!
AFTER A GENUINE MISTAKE BY 2 EX-LOYAL TESCO CUSTOMERS.
I RECENTLY HEARD THAT £1 IN EVERY £3 SPENT IN SUPERMARKETS IS SPENT IN TESCO
NEVER AGAIN WILL A PENNY OF MINE ENTER A TESCO TILL !!!!!
SHAME ON YOU TESCO !!!!

I've just been told by Tesco Braintree that it's against the law to sell alcohol to me at the age of 50 whilst my 14 year old daughter is standing beside me at the till. I asked her to therefore wait outside for me and they still refused and called security. I shall be taking this up with Head Office. Their staff want some instruction in the alcohol and licensing laws in this country.

My local Tesco store (a city centre express) always advertises great offers but I frequently find that when I get home I realise they didn't apply them at the till. I now check my receipt before leaving the store and almost each time there is something wrongly priced. Either these smaller stores are incompetently managed or they are ripping us off!

I was charged £12 on a £24 balance on a credit card because £11 minimum payment was due on the 11 May and I paid it on the 6 May but because of the bank holiday it was not a full 4 working days. Dear Mr Leahy,

I have just been to my local Tesco on Hackney Road and was disappointed to see that the fridge doors to the cold food sections were all wide open. This is not the first time I have seen this, every time I have been there I have encountered the same thing. It makes me so angry to see that sign above your fridges claiming that these fridges are "Caring for the environment."

What is the point of these special fridges if your staff are going to just leave them wide open?
This is not the first time I have complained. On a few occasions I have spoken to the staff at said store and asked them why each door was open. They were not replenishing the stock, they were just all propped open.
This time around I asked to speak with the manager. He made a weak excuse and proceeded to make faces at his other staff members to undermine my complaint.
I felt wronged, disappointed, angry and frustrated.

If you think you are taking the environment seriously then I can say that you have failed. If this is the attitude then I really despair.
I don't want you to sit there and roll your eyes. I don't want excuses, I just want this remedied.
If you are going to preach that you are "Caring for the environment" than please back this up with some substance. Don't fob us all off with your faux environmentalism.

Today I put the items I was going to purchase back in their place and I left the store. I will not be shopping with Tesco again. And I will encourage others to follow suit.

Regards,
Y

Enobarbus said...

I am not prone to losing my temper. This morning I was
incandescent in Tesco's, Newmarket Road when I checked my till
receipt. On the chilled meat counter is a display of various products
all bearing the sticker "Any 3 for £10". I believe that any sane, intelligent
shopper would understand this to mean: choose any three products and you will be charged £10.
Each pack has the sticker reinforcing the message.

But at Check Out, the three items are charged at full price, without a discount.
I raised this with the store manager, Sam Elsom. and was of course given a price
adjustment but she explained that at Tesco, the word "any" didn't mean what it usually means.
If there is a pile of mince on offer, "Any 3" means "only 3 of this pile". The items in the next pile
(they are all in the same small cabinet) which are also labelled "any 3 for £10" are not included
in the first offer. I believe the same thing happens in the vegetable and fruit departments.

I don't think I am eccentric in my reading of "Any": it cannot refer to just one item. I spend my life
editing and proof-reading documents, so I think I know what I'm talking about.

This seems to me not merely to be misleading practice but deliberately misleading practice.
I have queried similar transactions two or three times before: Tesco always admits that the
information is misleading and showers me with refunds. But how many people check their
bills carefully? Of them, how many can be bothered to go back and queue for a refund?

I hope you will investigate this sharp practice. Over the year, Tesco is robbing gullible customers
of a huge amount of money. It is a dishonest practice which should be checked immediately.

Tried to buy some wine on-line failed at checkout and phoned for help. Explained problem and was transferred to (wrong) dept and explained again. "Sorry we are telephone orders."
Lady had thick Scottish accent and frustrated me more and more the number of times I asked for repeat explanation.
Finally got thru' to address to send goods and despite telling the lady AND spelling the address the goods came addressed wrongly.
The address had 4 combinations of where the goods could have been sent. Driver (sub contractor) not happy as he only received £1.05 per parcel delivery. When I explained to Dundee , I was told the driver was "lying" to me.Why would he make up such a convoluted story?
Tesco believe that sorry covers everything but it is now so hackneyed Sorry means less than nothing.Graham Robinson

hi

we are regular visitor at tesco and we buy online also from tesco weekly or fortnightly

as we buy stuff from tesco all the times we mostly get 5 p off petrol voucher

as Today Wednesday when we went to your tower park bramch in poole, dorset
we brought stuff for 39 pound and then realised we got nappy deals and we need nappies also and brought nappies for 18 pound which was 57 pound , as we already have one voucher of 5 p at home to save on petrol, as we were not sure if that date has run out we went to customer service desk and was refused and informed that its only till , as till prints with every 50 pound spend

but as we understand we are in machine and technology age , but there is always a human touch needed in any thing we do so hence i am sure , lady at customer service was informed that its a difference of 3 mts of purchase and also its brought by the same card so its not that its fake or used other reciept,

as i understand the matter is tesco would like customers to spend mor e then their store to get the 5 p off and on top again for us to go back and spend in their petrol shop to spend their also

I tried to speak to manager , while i waited and explained the lady who was getting the manager even she agreed its kind of bizaar i should get it or tesco should do the terms porperly
when manager arrived as he wasnot interested to listen and look into eyes , as i work as a manager in similar field , it was more of the shruging shoulders as he thught we are there to get something for free

he kept talking its in there in term and conditions and kept looking at the 5 p off board to read terms and condtions , i tried to tell him i donot want to voucher now , its just i would like this to be in your attention but he was just not interested , and he gave up on the board as there was nothing specific and mentioned , its a good point you raised

for us as a family its disappointing to see as a human being we should be dealt where its possible with human intervention rather then technologies and this complain could have been dealt much better way

Regard and thanks

Apprciate your time and understanding

To the couple who did not pay for the clothing - you DIDN'T pay!!! You should not be consuming food in a supermarket especially if there is clothing! Whether you bought it along or not! I have 2 children and have never done it. If it's such a issue, there was 2 of you, you could have always gone out. How did you manage to do all the packing with all that residue and stuff all over your hands?! Also, what really bugs me is if you have unpacked at the till and you forgot a item... Tough! Pay up and leave your trolley at the till and go get it after! You haveno idea how many people try the 'oh I didn't realise' stunt. They are in their right to call the police - it is theft! Most of you dont seem to accept that sometimes it isn't the employees fault. Maybe read the labels for the prices, deals etc. Alot of other customers manage to do it?! :S you know, just as a suggestion and that.

I had the misfortune of visiting Tesco, Grove Green, Maidstone in Kent today. I have never come across such poor attitude and bad customer service ever!

Firstly, the staff who were doing stock checks pushed past or stood in front of customers as the customers were looking for whatever they had come to buy. It happened to me and to other buyers.

Next, at the self-service check out, the assistant asked me what I had done with the pizza I had scanned! Had she looked carefully, she would have seen that I was still holding it since the poor quality bag that TESCO had provided had just split!

Then, when we were weighing up some cherries, she barged in between me and my son, looked my 17year old son up and down (he was helping me with the shopping)and said that the cherries were very expensive and if he was sure he could buy them!

I was made to feel like a potential thief (with the pizza), a pauper (with the cherries) an imbecile (when she pushed my trolley out of my reach) as she said "others need to get past" (there was no one around) and invisible by the stock - checkers!

Bad attitude and poor customer service TESCO! I'll be damned if I add to your coffers EVER!

So far this week in Tesco Launceston I have received smirks from staff that I went to school with for no reason, been elbowed in the back by a senior member of staff who turned around without looking and (between the shoulder blades) leaving me in agony for the rest of the evening. Tesco staff always push past customers with no regard for health and safety and worst of all when they're pushing the cages around in the later hours of the evening they don't look to see where they're going.
Most of the time 50% of the self-checkout machines are non-functional if not being used by people who are well over 60 who take about 30 minutes to process 2 items or come up as a tagged item when buying things like sandwiches.

When I enter Tesco I don't want to be greeted by glares and physical damage to my person I want to be able to get what I want and leave within 5 minutes. I understand that you may be understaffed but when I apply for a part time job I don't expect to be declined because I'm not able to work any day you want on a whim..

Bought a packet of sweet chilli pre-cooked chicken to put on a salad and I found a blue wash cloth sitting dirty in the bottom. Absolutely disgusting. I have just taken pictures and I'm sure I'll be back on here to complain about the response I get as I'll no doubt be totally fobbed off.

Also, few months ago, went into same store, got a few bits of shopping and a bottle of wine, paid with no problems and went to the front counter to get some tobacco for my partner. Was asked for I.D! Spent the next few minutes trying to explain to this pleb of a manager that if a young woman could buy a bottle of wine, then why not tobacco products? I asked if I was right in thinking that I should have been asked for identification for the wine but kept getting "I can't sell you the tobacco, store policy." Shove your store policy. If you are telling me I, at 24 years of age, can get wine but not tobacco, you need training properly!!

NOT HAPPY!!

bought a dell streak and of April, has now developed a fault where it randomly returns to factory settings, wiping call history, texts alnd all settings in the process. Returned it to Tesco yesterday (less than 3 months) who told me I would have to speak to someone on a telephone, (telephone dialed and thrust in my direction), who then passed me through (without warning) to the dell indian call centre where arrangements were made to collect my device for repair. upon leaving work a message was on my mobile from dell saying the collection would now be a day later. Returned to tesco on the way home to try and get it sorted as, as far as I am concerned, they should be dealing with dell as my sales contract is with tesco. 2 managers, several line manager phone calls later and another 40 minutes wasted, still no resolve. the are insistent that I speak to Dell. Really shoddy/frustrating that customer facing staff/managers are not given a short course on consumer rights rights.

Purchased 6 bottles of wine from my local Tesco (for the 5% discount). When I checked the receipt back home, I discovered I'd been charged for 7.

Yes, I should've check at the store, my mistake, but when I returned there the following day, my receipt was studied intently, before I had a fiver more or less thrown at me without a word - no apology, nothing.

I suppose I should be grateful.

Well here goes, I bought a laptop from tesco back in february, returned it because it just kept freezing the keyboard so they replaced it quickly with a Dell M5030, then the problems began!! Tesco contradict themselves, since february its had 4 faults all sent to dell and 1 and a half weeks without a laptop, but yet when it came down to speaking to tesco about replacing the laptop they said no, it needs 3 faults, i said its had 4 for **** sake, all i get is ring dell ring dell, theyre another waste of space but i aint goin into that because this is about tesco, now they was happy to take £400 off me for the laptop but when it comes to faults they dont wanna know, 3 faults to get an authorization code to replace it and yet i have 4 and they say i need to ring dell, whats the point in having a proceedure? i even spoke to the tech expert in store and the store manager, they both agreed with me it needs replacing, tesco electrical helpline came back with "the manager was in the wrong by saying that" now not being funny but if the store manager is wrong who the **** can you rely on, and if dell cant make laptops who the **** can, as you can tell im not happy and i need this laptop for work today, i cant coz it wont work the things i need, only the internet, its ballsed up and tesco dont wanna know, so i lose pay coz i cant work, THANKS TESCO!!! il be going to the papers about this and putting it on every blog i can and explaining to my customers the reason i cant work today! feel free to reply tesco you have until wednesday 27/7/2011.

Monday 1st of august, my mum went in to do her weekly shop in the morning with her bag in her trolly as usual. Passed the makeup section and picked up an eyeliner for £2.99, So the eyeliner wouldnt brake she placed the item on her bag, ON not in, ON.
She did her usual shop and £60 later she bagged it and left forgetting about the eyeliner. As she was leaving she was stopped by security and told her to step aside where they then showed her cctv of her putting the eyeliner on her bag. My mum apolagised perfusely, told them she would pay for it and that she genuinly did intend in paying for it she just didnt want the eyeliner to fall through the trolly and brake. They then said there was bags to stop that from happening (no such bags has ever been seen at Tesco Hemsworth since it was built).
My Mum then said that she shops here all the time ever since it opened, and why would she steal a £2.99 eyeliner when she just spent £60? They called her a liar, called the police out.
When the police arrived they were escorting my mum to the car and the security guard asked the officer 'Why arent you handcuffing her?' My DISABLED, 43 year old mum, who has never commited any crime ever, looked at the officer with utter embaresment all over her face. Lukily the officer understood how silly the security guard was being and replied 'doesnt look like much of a criminal mastermind to me.' and went to escort my mum out. furious the security guard then shouted at my mum 'Well your banned from this tesco forever!'. My mum proudly replied 'your loss'.

Between me and my mum we must spend several £100 a WEEK at this actual tesco, for years.

The officer later told my mum they werent going to press chargers, because tesco over the last weekend had lost over £2,000 worth of stock and my mum was taking the blunt. For an officer to say this. Why, oh why was this power hungry security guard aloud to make my mum feel like a small child? IDIOT!

Hi all, just to say that the new-1yr old Tesco store in Bulwell Nottingham has lost its way already re customer service, store appearance, car park appearance and is without doubt the worst branch I have ever visited. The basement car park is full of trollys with waste food and used bottles still in them.there are never any smaller trollys anywhere near the store entrance doors, never more than 3 or 4 checkouts manned at any one time, travelators screeching all the time, chiller cabinets constantly breaking down. What the hell is happening with Tesco. I have been told that they are closing down after only a year-serves them right for building this store only to keep Asda out. I never spend less than £100 a week at Tesco, but now I'm done and off to Morrisons

Hi just a quick message for suze on 1st of August.... I really think you should take it further and write to tesco head office. I say this because has a member of 'tesco staff' they treat the staff with the same disrepect! Four years ago after a shift I purchased a cake that was reduced they followed me on camera during my whole shopping trip and has I left the store the security guard grabbed me and escorted me to the security office and questioned over a reduced item claming that i had reduced it my self and was infact sealing from the company.
The fact that it had took me 90 minutes to shop instore since my shift finished was brought up they said I was looking for other items to self reduce?
I took the matter to my union and was cleared even though i did nothing wrong! I also made sure that the Guard was sacked and a full apology from the security manager who plainly had too much time on his hands watching the cameras, 4 years on and I am still waiting for that apology!
I know they should not jump to the wrong conclusions with customers and staff alike, that's why you should really get in touch with head office and bring each of the stores little hitler's down one by one.
The bigger they are THE HARDER THEY WILL FALL!!!

I now find that I am being chased by Tesco's chosen debt recovery company "Fredrickson International" (a lovely bunch of people who would sell their own granny to make a pound - Google them) for money owed to them in lieu of cancellation notice by telephone. Tesco store are trying to sort out this mess but Tesco Mobile don't want to know. Their customer service is non existent and the attitude is "it's your problem". I would advise anyone to go elsewhere for a mobile phone, the risk of being stitched up by Tesco is just too great.

Let me start by saying that I was a very loyal customer of Tesco's and I live within 10 mins walk from Gallions Reach shopping centre where a 24-hour Tesco operates. I placed an order for groceries that should have arrived on Friday between 9 and 10pm. Of course I paid in advance and I also paid 4.50 delivery charge. To cut a long story short, the delivery never arrived. The online customer services team lied and said that the delivery van was running 30 mins late, but it was still coming. Rubbish - they never arrived and at 11pm everybody stopped working. Saturday morning I was told that someone was going to call me to rearrange the delivery and no one did. Someone calling themselves the delivery van called from an unknown number and said they were outside my flat. Of course, they weren't. Maybe they could not read, because the postcode where I live is within 2 mins drive from Tesco where they pack everything, and one in 3 people on this estate order via online too. After several complaints to the online service team, I received an offer for 10 pounds off coupons - laughable! This multi-billion pound company could not care less about the customer experience and thinks that if they thrown some money like a bone to a dog, this will solve the problem! This time they tried their bullying tactics with the wrong person. I never used this service in the past and I never will again, and I would not encourage anybody to use it. I had no idea how incapable they are, how poor their reading skills are, how poor their training is. If there seemed to be some sort of common sense on the phone, well those who have to type up have none! What a pity - a flagship company that is that bad... I wonder what their headoffice is like if those who face the customers cannot follow Google directions! I demand compensation for the way in which I was treated. I paid in advance and met my part of the deal, why should Tesco be allowed to insult me like this with lies and coupons?!

Richard William Evans ~ Why Why Why Do Tesco's Allow This Person To Be A Store Manager === Why Why Why ~~ This Person Is Trouble...

To whom it may concern,
I have been working at Tesco for 4 years now as a CA. About four months ago a member of staff stole the spare keys to the lockers and has been going through peoples bags and belongings. I worked a night shift with the manager and the mentioned member of staff. Before coming into work I had borrowed £60 from a loan shop to tie me over till pay day, I didn't have enough time to drop it off at home so I took into work with me. I know I shouldn't have had that much money on me at work and I should have mentioned it to the manager, but I thought it would safe in my locked locker, little did I no. I had spent £10 so had £50 left, I put it in 2 different departments of my purse just in case I lost it. When I went for my break half way through the shift, I checked the money was still in my purse and it was. The mentioned member of staff served me and must have seen the money when I checked, he then later went on his break. Once I got home after the shift I just happened to go in my purse for my pills, and it was then I noticed the money was missing from both departments of my purse. I was so worried I did not sleep all night and called work the following morning as soon as they opened regarding this matter. The Deputy Manager checked the lockers and dicovered some of the spare keys were missing. We hadn't had the lockers long and management did not remove the spare keys. About a week later other members of staff mentioned that someone had been through their lockers too. The lockers are placed where there are no cameras. I ask the manager what would be done about it and he said he would investigate it. The investigation was never done and lockers have been changed and the boy in question is still employed by Tesco. Once he realised the lockers had been changed he has not been in work nor has he rang up to say his not coming in. If they do sack him it will be for not attending work not for stealing my money. I didn't confront him as the manger said he will investigate it, but now he hasn't its making me doubt if it could have been the manager!? The Manager went on holiday during this time, and told me things would get sorted, when he returned he made up the excuse that the boy had not been coming in so he couldn't investigate, maybe if he didn't get the lockers changed the boy wouldn't have cottoned on that we knew what he was up to. I'm still really upset about it because its me that has to pay the money back which was for a bus pass to go work and food for two weeks. I'm sure if the boy was stealing out the till it would have been investigated. The same boy also borrowed money off a elderly member of staff and when he didn't repay him back, the manager took the money out of his owe pocket and paid the elderly member of staff back. What are my rights? Can anything be done now? I'm real fed what of complaining when no one listens and responds to my emails.

I used to work at Tesco's. I worked there for 2 years ( waste of my time and effort). While I was there I learned their 'promises' of more hours were never gonna come to me, and it seemed they were more than happy to give any spare hours to staff who were managers' relatives, most of whom had no experience whatsoever, and all had more than my measly pathetic 16 and a quarter hours initially! They all get on fantastically there. I however did not.
At Tesco in this particular store, positions for management or team leader vacancies were given to people who's face fit, and it helped a lot if you were shagging another manager. I wanted to progress but decided against it when i realised how shit the management team was, and i would just not fit in with the very 'cliquey' bitchy, two faced, brown nosing that was happening within them. I just didn't wanna be a part of that.
My manager was a university educated girl my age. With a degree in Art or something. She started out automatically a team leader when the store opened. And she got in to a relationship with a manager, and lo and behold, 2 weeks later she was a MANAGER of a different department! She was rude to customers, rude to us who were on the front line of endless repetitive bullshit from customers. But sweet as pie when her fellow 'managers' were around.
One day i prevented a theft from taking place, never did i get a 'thank you'. But if I did anything 'wrong' I was marched into the 'interview room' immediately, and my punishment would begin. Jesus, it felt worse than school, sitting there with 2 managers probing questions. The way they make you feel is just wrong. They seem to get off on the power trip as they are so smug with themselves after, You can tell.
I honestly tried my hardest to please them, and the customers. I made sure i stuck to their stupid 'script' when on the till. Took flack from Joe Public day in, day out.Feeling so embarrassed when people asked for bags and I had run out, due to managers limiting how many bags we could give. Then having to explain, all lovely and polite, only to get a shit load of grief in return, and still having to sit there all nicey nicey.
Everything pretty much is out of checkout staff's hands. We sit, we say the script, we chat to people, we humor your repetitive small talk and politely listen even though we've been thru the same conversation over and over with other customers. Then we do a payment transaction We have no control over bags or anything else!
I had never hated working somewhere so much, ever. I am glad i left. I may be jobless now, but i am much happier than I was when i was there. I'll say no more. But what a depressing place to work. Rant over, happy shopping in Tesco.

I am Currently a line manager for Tesco and I can tell everyone on here that Tesco does not care about their customers or staff. All they are interested in is squeezing as much profit as they possibly can at any cost. In my store that have reduced contracted hours by over 200hrs (to save payroll costs) they have stripped staff from service areas with no regard for how this affects staff in them areas or customers but still demand the same lever of service and when these are not met then procede to dicipline staff for it! They do not care about any safe and legal obligations. It is common practice in all stores i have worked in and visited to flout the LEGAL 20 min cold chain rule! Do not dispose of waste in the correct manner causing pest infestations and sell out of date products to save on waste costs. I know of this personally because when i brought this up to senior levels of management then very next day I was disciplined and moved! This is the true face of Tesco Ltd.

As for the people saying 'ugh, go to another supermarket'. Well, i have this to say to you, why should i? Why should Tesco get away with poor service, poor quality products and employing people who they deem as 'people who wouldn't get work anywhere else' - and that is what a recruitment manager from a tesco said to me when they turned me down for a job in my local supermarket. So consequencely, you have the shop in shambles because the shops are literally run by morons. Of course there are always exceptions. If i was able to get to some of the other supermarkets that are a lil further away from me, i would go there. But they're too far away and i have no way to get there. Every grocery home delivery service in each supermarket is too terrible to use.

Yesterday on the 5th of September I was due a delivery form tesco for food shopping between 10am and 12pm. I waited in and nothing turned up, it got to 7pm and still no delivery. I ordered another one to be delivered today between 8am and 10am and it is 10 am now and this hasn't arrived either. They haven't rang me to say why there is no delivery. I have tried to ring them but no anwser, I have emailed them and no reply.
I am very ill at the moment with my liver and cannot get out to go shopping.
I am so angry, if they couldn't bring my shopping I would have appreciated a phone call or an email to explain why before hand!

I have just returned from shopping at Tesco's. As I had my two small children with me, I decided to leave checking the receipt until I got home. When I did, I noticed that I had not received a credit for the chicken, which was buy one get one free. I phoned the store and they said that I must return to the store with the receipt, the two lots of chicken and my debit card. I said that it might take a while, but I'd be back latter that day. When I returned to the store about 40 minutes later, I was informed by the Customer Services individual that the offer was no longer buy one get one free (as it had been for previous two weeks) but has changed to get a free sauce. I said that is fine I appreciate that I did not read the offer which had been sneakly changed. I simply asked for a full refund as I would not like the sauce and I was not interested in paying £6 for 3 chicken breasts (let alone £12 for two lots). I was then quoted the cold food policy that Tesco have and they said that I was not entitled to any refund! I was shocked and dismayed. They decided to tell me about this, only when I returned to the store, not while I was one the phone to them. For this reason and the fact that they use underhand practices to con their customers, I will never shop at Tesco's again.

In relation to lifetime ban from Tesco, Sowerby Bridge branch.

I write to tell you the trouble that happened on Christmas Eve at the Sowerby Bridge store. The problem was, being followed by one of the store staff constantly, and watching what I was putting in my trolly.
I was also told to put some items back where they came from the man who I thought was the manager. I told him I did alot of shopping for other people who are elderly or disabled and they cannot get into Tescos. This man then said "I dont think so, I know what you do, and you've got too much stuff in your trolly, theres not just you in this area."
I dont make any profit from doing doing this, and if I can get bargins and reduced items for these people I will, all i get is points on my card.
As he walked away he looked at a female member of staff and smiled/ smirked, she returned the cocky cleaver smile.
Also there were four trolly's at the side of the reduced item's shelf, all with at least ten of the samee items in. I thought they were there ready to be placed on the shelves, but when i reached into get something out an angry Asian customer shouted "Get out of that trolly."
I replied "But you have hold of your trolly, he said these four trollys are mine."
I was annoyed at this as I seemed to be on a limit, also I couldn't understand why four trollys went through different checkouts.
On another occassion I was followed round by a serurity guy who just stared at me constantly, I asked him why he was doing this and he came right up to my face, nose to nose.
I said I am going to see the manager, he backed off and walked away.
I went to customer services and asked to see the manager, but the same man who originally told me to replace the items came to see me.
He asked in a stern voice "What can I do for you?" I told him what happened and he said hes only doing his job. His job must be making customers feel uncomfortable and then trying to terrorise them, well it worked on me. I work unsociable hours for local banks and have to fit the shopping in when I can, I have done this for several years now and never had any problems at all.
I live nearly next door to this tesco store and the people I look after all live around me.
I dont have my own transport so travelling to other stores is very hard for me, as i will more thn likely have five or six peoples items to carry.
I dont know she were the manageress and never seemed to get to talk to her, if I could have explained the situation to her then maybe something could have been sorted out.
I really do applogise for any trouble, problems or misunderstandings I seemed to have caused, and asked if the ban on me using this Tesco could be lifted.
This is what got said to the Tesco's manageress and her reply to me was "Im not letting you back in this store as you cause trouble!" I replied "On that day if i was causing trouble you should have called the police, as I know I was not causing trouble I was just proving my point."

Kind Regards
Leon Ogden.

I am so very happy that I've found this blog. Makes me believe there are more people like me in the UK, who have been humiliated by such a company.

On Monday night, I was ordering my monthly groceries online, when out of the blue some bug prevented me from checking out and erased my entire basked. Conclusion, I had to do it all over again, hence no next day delivery because the slots were are filled. By now, I didn't have any food left in the fridge or the cupboards.

So I had them deliver my groceries today between 10 and 11am. I woke up early, just to make sure that I didn't miss the driver knocking on my door or anything, and waited.

Around 10h30am I started going to the frontyard every 5m to see if I could spot the Tesco van.

My order was late. I called customer service at 11h30am and explained the situation to them. They said they were going to check with the store what was happening and that they would call me in 10 minute's time.

No such thing. I had to be the one calling them back at 12h30. The person on the other side told me that the drive tried to deliver my things but was unsuccessful because I hadn't answered the door.

I was beside myself with anger. How could he say that I hadn't answered the door?

First of all, I knew the groceries were coming, so I kept a close ear on the buzzer.

Second, my doorbell rings as loud as a fire alarm. Even if I were asleep with headphones on, I'd still hear it.

Third, he couldn't possibly tried to deliver my things because in order to get into the flat's front yard you have to press the door number on the communicator outside for someone to open it for you.

I told the staff member this, and he said: Oh but it's what the driver said.

To which I asked: If I remember correctly, when the delivery isn't sucessful for some reason, the driver is supposed to leave a card on my mailbox or door. So why isn't there any?

He proceeded to give me a half-mecanized answer that we was only communicating what he was told by the manager and that they did try to contact me on my phone as well but that I didn't pick up the call.

I was in hysterics by now. I payed 80 pounds for my groceries, which is my monthly budget for food, so I had no money left to buy anymore someplace else.

I told them I had nothing to eat for the rest of the day, and that they couldn't possibly tried calling me because my service was fine, and I had just received a job interview phonecall. So how come everyone else could call me but them? Rather weird don't you think.

Then I asked to speak to the manager, and the staff member told me that the manager was too busy to handle such trivial matters.

I lost my composture and insulted him a great deal with words I dare not post in this blog.

As if that was not enough, while I was complaning, he put me on hold, with music playing! Then he picked up the phone again and asked if I wanted to reschedule.

I had to reschedule my delivery for tomorrow morning, but today I was left to starve because I didn't have anything left to eat.

Despicable is the most suitable word to describe the customer service - in this respectable context.

Best regards,

They are the biggest thieves out there.

I got a sim card for my phone from them which was supposed to be triple credit. I hadn’t even had it a day before they deducted data usage for at an extremely high rate that took away most of my credit. When I queried it, they gave me the data usage time and quantity (but of course failed to provide on how the data was used). The time in which they suggested I used data was the same time I was cycling to the railway station and my phone was switched off and safely tucked away in my bag. So they implied that whilst I was cycling to the railway station, I was somehow able to switch on my mobile phone and download significant amounts of data. I only have one pair of hands…and I’m a man an completely unable to multitask. I was appalled so now I’m with GiffGaff which are tons cheaper and free texts to Facebook so I’m happy now.

I hate Tesco’s because they are robbing rodents and every time I had been into our local one I had come out feeling angry about something. I shop at either ASDA or Sainsbury’s now. ASDA are the cheapest supermarket for the 14th year running and now they have taken over Netto, there are more outlets….never had a problem with them.

And has anyone noticed how everybody is saying how rubbish their offers are recently? I get it a lot....

James

Was told an any 2 cheeses for £3 offer was restricted to 2 of the same cheeses. When I tried to explain that the normal any 2 for deals usually applies across different types, I was told that was not the case. Perhaps one of the cheeses was wrongly labelled in the any 2 for offer, but to suggest that any 2 for means something else seems wrong. At least they should change the offer to say 2 for £3, rather than suggest that I am at fault for their false advertising.
